The Hybrid Growth

The growth of hybrid machines and possibilities. Truck-mounted lifts work with e-tech batteries, telehandlers are becoming electric and scissor lifts work electric or hybrid. What more can we expect?

Back in 2018 Manitou already announced electric and hyrbid telehandlers. At the time, there was talk of a drive using a 30 kWh battery that feeds a 60 kW electric motor or a combination of a Deutz diesel engine and a 20 kW electric motor.

Manitou is, at the time of writing, still working on this development and is expected to be further introduced by the end of 2022.

Genie was the first to release the scissor lifts as E-drive. The E-drives are powered with a state-of-the-art Genie AC electric E-Drive system. In addition to being a durable machine and emission-free operation, the machine's performance with the battery is unparalleled.

The sequel to Genie? Hybrid telescopic boom lifts. In May 2022, Genie announced the S-60 FE and DC. This telescopic boom lift can be ordered in the Hybrid (FE) variant as well as the fully electric (DC) variant. After the announcement, Genie immediately put the machines ready, so that they can be delivered by dealers to customers immediately in the summer of 2022.

Versalift focuses on the aerial work platform part of the truck-mounted aerial work platform. With the e-tech package, a battery pack is placed in the car. The lithium battery pack can be recharged while driving by means of an inverter. Then, depending on how much is driven, more cycles can be taken from the package per day. Of course you can also charge via a normal 230V connection and via a special plug at a car charging station.

In short, the emergence of hybrid and electric machines to work without emissions is continuing rapidly. It is expected that more and more series will be offered with hybrid or electric motors.
